Clerk's Office
Description
The clerk is responsible for keeping all records, documents, and official papers for the township. They must announce the annual town meeting, special meetings, and certain elections. As the district clerk for the highway commissioner, they handle specific election notices related to tax limits and bond issues. Each year, the clerk files with the County Clerk the amount of taxes needed for township purposes.
The clerk also serves as the Local Election Official for township elections held every four years. The office includes deputy registrars who can register voters during regular hours and provides notary services. While the clerk is a non-voting member of the Board, they can vote in specific situations.
