Pathways to Equity Resource Fair – June 2024

Joliet Township Government to host Pathways to Equity Resource Fair in partnership with Workforce Services Division of Will County
The Pathways to Equity Resource Fair is a resource fair for individuals impacted by the justice system.

Joliet, IL — June 6, 2024 — Joliet Township Government is excited to announce the Pathways to Equity Resource Fair, dedicated to supporting individuals impacted by the justice system. This event marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to fostering equity and providing essential resources to our community.  

The Pathways to Equity Resource Fair will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Ozzie & Peggy Mitchell Center, located at 172 S. Chicago St, Joliet, IL 60436. The fair aims to connect attendees with crucial support systems, including employment opportunities, educational programs, housing assistance, mental health services, and legal aid. Hosted by Joliet Township Government’s Peace Over Violence (POV) program and the Racial Equity Impact Assessment League (REIAL), in partnership with the Workforce Services Division of Will County, this event is an invaluable opportunity for individuals seeking to build a brighter future. 

Operating out of the Ozzie & Peggy Mitchell Center, Joliet Township Government Peace Over Violence (POV) program plays a pivotal role in reducing gun violence through comprehensive case management, street outreach, and victim advocacy.  

“The Pathways to Equity Resource Fair is a vital part of our efforts to provide comprehensive support, from reducing gun violence to offering critical resources for reintegration.,” said Keshia Ellis, Peace Over Violence Director for Joliet Township Government. ” We are proud to partner with the Workforce Services Division of Will County in empowering individuals to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to our community. “ 

The Racial Equity Impact Assessment League (REIAL), led by Joliet Township Government’s Violence Prevention Council Coordinator LeShae Hudson, consists of community leaders dedicated to implementing collaborative strategies that positively impact Joliet. Through monthly meetings, REIAL coordinates emergency community engagement efforts and assesses the efficacy of violence prevention initiatives. 

Hudson added, “ This event underscores our holistic and collaborative approach to community support and violence prevention. By addressing employment, education, housing, mental health, and legal needs in partnership with Workforce Services Division of Will County and participating organizations, we are paving the way for meaningful, long-term change. 

The Pathways to Equity Resource Fair will feature a diverse array of services aimed at addressing the multifaceted needs of individuals impacted by the justice system. Attendees can expect: 

  • Employment and Educational Opportunities: Connect with employers and educational institutions offering programs tailored to enhance skills and career prospects. 
  • Housing Assistance: Access resources and support for stable and affordable housing. 
  • Mental Health Services: Engage with providers offering trauma-informed behavioral health services. 
  • Legal Aid: Receive guidance and support from legal experts on issues pertinent to justice-impacted individuals.
